Biography
Born in Pittsburgh, Emma spent her early years in rural Ohio, in the small farming community of Lucas. During her school years, she played in the Cleveland Youth Orchestra from 2001-2004, and won the Mansfield Symphony Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition in 2003. She attended the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, graduating with a Bachelor of Music in 2009. She next spent a year at the Chicago College of the Performing Arts at Roosevelt University for advanced studies, in addition to two years at Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School of the Arts. Emma has studied with members of the Cleveland Orchestra, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the Philadelphia Orchestra.
Emma currently resides near Cherry Hill, NJ and performs with several local groups in Central New Jersey and the greater Philadelphia area, including the Exit 4 Quintet, Eastern Wind Symphony, and Sinfonietta Nova. Music has allowed her to travel and perform at venues all over the world, including Carnegie Hall (NYC), Severance Hall (Cleveland), Symphony Space (NYC), Harris Theater (Chicago), Kennedy Center (DC), and many others. She enjoys collaborating with others in many different settings to perform classical music as well as new music.
Emma currently serves as an instructor at Mel's Music where she teaches woodwind and piano lessons, and has expanded her teaching practice to include in-home lessons.
